ED SHIFFMAN is well known in Santa Barbara, California, for his long professional career in investment management, which includes executive level management positions with financial services firms as well as serving as an investment officer for a Native American tribe in south central California. He served a term on the advisory board to the Special Trustee for Native Americans during the Obama Administration.
Ed rounds out these positions by serving as a captain with a volunteer fire department in Mono County which has taken him to serious wildfires around California, including the Los Angeles fires of 2025. Add to this his dalliance in automobile mechanics (from working in a gas station during his high school years) and horseshoeing (he trained at Porterville Horseshoeing School, where he also learned blacksmith skills) – and all of these background elements come together in Fraud, Murder & Mayhem.
Ed lives in the Santa Ynez Valley with his wife of 30 years, Karen, and their horse, mule and dogs. In his spare time he likes to surf, run, swim, backpack, ride his horse, and play trombone with a local R&B group.
